Eating the Elephant–5 Lessons from Type-A Parent Con

Last weekend I headed to Atlanta for my first ever Type-A Parent Conference.  I had known that I wanted to go to one of the bigger social media conferences out there and heard that Type-A was one of the best.  I bought my ticket shortly after they went on sale, hoping that I’d actually end up going and knowing that I had to start preparing my pitch for my husband.  Making the choice to attend Type-A was a big deal {Read More}

Vera Bradley’s Fall Collection Glows with Gorgeous Colors & Prints

As you may have gleaned from some of my other recent posts, I just returned from the Type-A Parent Conference in Atlanta.  After outfitting myself for the conference with some truly fabulous thrifted items from my friend Tanya’s stash, I realized that I couldn’t possibly head to yet another conference schelpping my laptop, notebook, iphone, business cards, and all of the other necessary accoutrements of a social media conference in my old, beat-up Vercesi hardware bag.  As most of us {Read More}

Good Boy, Schnoggy

When I first got him I named him Viva, after a friend of a friend who was the bartender at Arturo’s on Thompson and Houston in the city.  He was only a few weeks old when I adopted him from the daughter of the other bartender at Arturo’s.  He was small and black and skittish and Chester, the big cat, ate his food. When Jon came onto the scene only a few months after Viva arrived, he took him under {Read More}

Fighting the Dark Side in Flip Flops

During our first couple of trips as a family to Walt Disney World, Hollywood Studios was the one park we left off of our itinerary.  At first it was because I thought that the attractions focused mostly on thrill rides that my girls were too small to enjoy and theming and shows that wouldn’t hold their interest.  While I remembered absolutely loving the glamorous, art-deco vibe of Hollywood Boulevard and the audio-animatronics of the Great Movie Ride back when I {Read More}

The Magic Kingdom Flag Retreat

One of my favorite things about a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is the fact that no matter how many times you visit, you will always have at least one new experience each and every time.  Our most recent trip in August did not disappoint and on our last day in the Magic Kingdom we were fortunate enough to happen upon one of the park’s lesser-known special events.  Being that it was our last day, we {Read More}

Fireworks with Pirates!

One of my favorite parts of our trips to the Walt Disney World Resort is treating my girls to a special event–last time this meant a visit to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (if you didn’t know that the Bibbidi existed, just wait until I tell you about all the other unknown Disney magic that’s out there!). On our  most recent Disney World vacation I decided to surprise them with a sail on the Seven Seas Lagoon to view the spectacular {Read More}

My Top 4 Disney World Attractions!

All the parks in Walt Disney World have their unique and special attractions.  Let’s start out with the Magic Kingdom.  Because of Cinderella Castle, Magic Kingdom is what people think about when Disney pops into their minds.  Personally, Splash Mountain is my top favorite ride in Disney’s Magic Kingdom.  This is why.  First of all, you get wet!  That’s very refreshing, especially if you’ve been walking around a hot park.  There is also a thrilling, 40-foot drop near the end! {Read More}

Disney Collection by Vera Bradley

I don’t know about you, but I am a huge fan of Vera Bradley’s gorgeous prints.  This past holiday season I purchased Vera Bradley bags for several of the ladies in my family and everyone absolutely adored them.  And now, what fun!  Vera Bradley is releasing their new Disney Collection and with it I have discovered my ultimate bag–beautiful Vera Bradley fabrics interspersed with little images of my favorite mouse and his adorable lady friend.  The release date for the {Read More}

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique 101

You see them all over Disney World–little princesses sporting a glittery, tiara-adorned up-do and a rosy-pink sash, the telltale accoutrements of a visit to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.  My youngest daughter stared after these children longingly throughout our first two trips to the World.  They’re hard to miss as they skip through the parks, all sparkly and glamorous.  I managed to placate her temporarily with what I called the “Mommidi Bobbidi Boutique,” pulling her hair high onto her head and {Read More}

How to Choose Your Disney Resort

Deluxe, Moderate, Value or Villa?  Concierge service or food court?  Bus or monorail?  Palm trees or the Pacific Northwest?  Spa or pool slide?  After you have determined when you will visit the house of The Mouse, the next thing you will need to choose is your Disney resort hotel.  Where you will stay during your Disney World vacation is probably the biggest decision you will have to make when planning your trip.  With over 20 different resorts to choose from, each {Read More}
